We have rarely seen female action flicks in Bollywood, so news of Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif teaming up for one is definitely something to be excited about. According to a report in mid-day, the two actors are in talks for an action-comedy to be bankrolled by Tanu Weds Manu maker Aanand L Rai. The filmmaker has reportedly brought on board debutant director Anirudh Ganapathy to direct the film.
A source told mid-day that Anirudh has been associated with Aanand’s production house for many years. “He worked as an assistant director on Happy Bhag Jayegi and Zero. While shooting for Zero, he shared the idea of the film with Katrina, who agreed to be part of the project. Vidya Balan has also been approached for the second lead. The script is in the final stage, and if everything goes well Vidya and Katrina will share screen space for the first time,” the source added.
Earlier, Aanand L Rai had spoken about the failure of Zero. “I won’t say I am disappointed. I will need to understand (what went wrong). This is the story I wanted to say and I made it. After making Ranjhaanaa and Tanu Weds Manu and the second one, this film (Zero) was due for me to make. To take a certain flight and I have not landed on it properly,” he told PTI.
Ever wondered what kind of bond Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan share? How does this once-upon-a-time couple manage to continue working together, and heap praise on one another while they are at it?
Well, at a recent event in Singapore, Katrina Kaif revealed that.
When probed about her Bharat co-star, Salman Khan, Katrina said, “Salman has really had my back, and has been there for me as a friend and support over the years, unfailingly and intuitively… He always seems to be able to sense it… He’s that person who is completely reliable. I trust him implicitly, and I think we have that connection.”
Speaking about a particularly rough time in her life, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that she’s referring to her rather public and seemingly bitter break-up with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina is reminded of how Salman and she would suddenly cross paths, and things would instantly start falling into place.
Apart from Salman, Katrina admitted that his two sisters, Arpita and Alvira, are like her own “eighth and ninth sisters” and that she shares an equally strong bond with them.
Salman and Katrina were last seen together in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat, which also starred Disha Patani. Katrina’s role was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra, who later backed out of the project since it clashed with her wedding with Nick Jonas. Bhaijaan, however, has always maintained that Katrina was his first choice from the beginning. We guess it all turned out well, then.
Katrina and Ranbir reportedly got together during the filming of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in 2009. They parted ways about seven years later, in 2016, during the last leg of the filming of Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos.
While Katrina and Ranbir make it a point to never cross paths at award functions, celebrity weddings, or parties, Salman and Katrina’s relationship seems to have blossomed into something that has mutual respect and admiration, if not more. And as for Katrina’s relationship with Ranbir Kapoor’s current girlfriend Alia Bhatt, well, they are BFFs.
